Zoo Time

Hogle Zoo is starting to come alive this spring! They've started up their bird show, one of my favorite attractions. I find myself giggling at the bird's antics like a little kid. After the show, you can drop a dollar in the donation box, with the help of a smart cockatoo. Both boys bravely donated. I can't wait to get birds once we move to the country!

Thanksgiving Point Tulip Festival

Never mind the pricey admission, Thanksgiving Point knows what they are doing when it comes to tulips! We spontaneously joined my parents and siblings for an afternoon of soaking in the stunning beauty of the seemingly millions of tulips. To Remington and Marsh, it probably just seemed like another day at the park. They enjoyed running along the trails, playing with the kids and splashing in the water. For me, it was one of those days I wanted to kick myself for not bringing my fancy new camera. I think I only captured a small glimpse into how gorgeous this place really is in the springtime.

To Keep it Interesting...

It's gonna be a little quiet around here for a little while during our crazy transition! Go enjoy some cake!

Valentine Project

My crafty friend Morgan mentioned that she had a craft night and made Valentine wreaths. Since I totally slacked on making a felt advent calendar, I "felt" I needed to redeem myself and use the excess red, pink and cream felt I had lying around. The red was the only wool felt I had and the other colors were synthetic. If you can find a deal on wool felt, snatch it up. I've gotten it on sale before at around $3.50/yd. If you buy the end of the bolt, they'll sometimes give it to you for 50% off. It's really high quality and holds it shape nicely.

The original source of inspiration: Ruffle Felt Wreath Tutorial

Heart Inspiration found at Eighteen25
I could only find a glitter-covered wreath, but it was half price so it ended up being cheaper than white styrofoam.
Diet Coke: an essential crafting tool.
The rotary cutter made the circle cutting easy. I initially cut 20 circles of each color. I needed a total of 120 circles to complete the project. It's not necessary to group the circles too closely. Once you fluff them up, it covers the styrofoam nicely.

I love it! It looks luxurious and extra-fluffy, just like love should be!Today's Creative Blog

Mini Bowling

We have bowling on the Wii, a foam bowling set, a mini bowling set AND we go "real" bowling. There isn't a form of bowling out there that this kid hasn't tried!
It takes careful planning...
To get it just right...Ready! Set! Go! Just imagine the sound of pins knocking together...One more to go...

African Forest

The Houston Zoo just opened their fancy new African Forest exhibit. I couldn't wait to go! The animals were awake and alert and it was a beautiful day for the zoo.
Here's what my boys opted for over animal watching:

Snoozing:Spinning:Okay, he did watch the sea lions swim for about 3 minutes.

Car Crash!

We were blown away by this music video...
Which led Keith to create this clever little stop motion animation bit. His first attempt.

What a clever fellow!

Strange Smile

With the humidity so great, every glass in the house sweats as soon as cold liquid is poured inside. This is who I met when I lifted my glass yesterday:
A smiley face with hair. It stayed that way all day, didn't even dry out. Hmm.

34.5

Weeks, that is. Doctor says I'm measuring big, but we're also scheduling the little guy to come early so no biggie. Other than the fact that I can't sit, stand, drive, eat, sleep or do anything comfortably! Evening breathing is a challenge these days! On the bright side, it was a lovely 70 degree day so we packed up the kid and visited the Fine Arts Museum of Houston. This painting of Elsie Driggs was my favorite: Remi was a perfect gentleman but very time he made a squeak a frenzied, geriatric docent would appear out of nowhere to make sure he hadn't ruined a priceless work of art! What a lovely way to spend an afternoon!
