Ladybug Birthday

One of the great things about being back in Utah is being able to celebrate my darling Emily's 9th birthday. After about an hour of grilling her, we figured out that she loves ladybugs! I was so excited to help decorate for a girl for once.
I started where else? Eighteen25 for a adorable and girly subway print.
I earned many pinpricks making this ribbon topiary, inspiration found out a Michael's store while waiting in line. Tutorials are all over the interweb.
I love to decorate goofy little cakes and cupcakes. Emily chose a moist banana cake with cream cheese frosting. Recipe found here
With help from Beth, mother-in-law extraordinaire, I completed this banner the night before the party.
A lovely ladybug afternoon!

This is what we get?

Here for five minutes and it snows over a foot!
Marsh the cockatoo, warm and dry, watched from the window:
While an uncharacteristically adventurous Remi stomped outside to help Dada shovel.
Thanks for the warm welcome!

Birthdays, birthdays, everywhere!

Someone was turning 1. Someone was turning 3. Someone was turning 31. Someone made a cake.

Last Days in Texas

The reason we have been so absent from the blogging world is because we sold our house in Kingwood and moved to Utah! It has been a wild and crazy few weeks. We've postponed anniversary celebrations, 3 of 4 family members birthdays, packed up and moved a household including babies and pups, said goodbye to beloved Texas family and friends and said hello to the Utah ones. We have had unbelievable amounts of help and support from so many people near and far. Thank you, everyone!
We experienced so many bittersweet "lasts"
Last day at our neighborhood park:

Last chat with Ray
Last dinner at Pete's
Goodbye to friends and movers
Goodbye to our first house, and the only home our boys have ever known.
