Phase 2 Complete

Hello. Keith here. I finally finished phase 2 of the "entertainment wall". Here are some pics of the progression. It was a fun project. Figuring out how to hide the wires for the TV was a real challenge. I figured out a way to hide them yet be able to change or remove them as well.
Here is the room when we first bought the house.

Phase 1 done, the mantel

All done.

Extreme Obsession

Remi is a sick little boy. Sick with elevator fever. This condition causes him to be overly obsessed with elevators, anything with buttons, anything that goes up and down and has doors that open. When I take Remi to the mall for storytime, he will screech until I take him to the mystical glass portal that will undoubtedly take him to the second floor. Folks, he knows where every single elevator is in that blasted mall. If he ever got lost in there I would know exactly where to find him. When Keith took us to Ikea for my belated Mother's Day celebration, Remi cried and caused a fuss because he only got two elevator rides, which then quickly became four.

The plus side of all of this is that Remi is learning elevator etiquette. He politely waits until all riders have exited before he boards, and he has even taken cues from his Dada and holds the doors for anyone that wants to take a ride. That kid is so darn observant it frightens me.

Anyway, I'm rambling. This fever tends to spread. The other morning was spent talking about elevators. Well, Remi doesn't talk...so he motions with his finger up and down. Whenever we say the word "mall" he will do the same motion, because that is the home of the elevator he loves the most.

It led me to create this:

Here Remi uses the universal motion for "elevator"
The whole family on an elevator ride. It's taped to the fridge and equipped with sliding doors and everything!

Keith wanted in on the action and he wanted to out-do me as a parent so he created this:
A functioning elevator made with legos, a piece of tuperware, twine and a Little People Noah. The Boy must have played with it for an entire hour before it started to bore him, but he ended up going back to it several times to play with later.

Addiction

It's not for the fainthearted, but if you are in the mood for an addicting, exciting, nail-biter of a show then check it out. I never thought a biker show could be so good. We watched all of season 1 in three days. Sam Crow has us hooked!

Ice Cream and Update

Sorry for the shortage of pictures, but we have been busy making ICE CREAM!!!
Keith has made two wonderful concoctions: Classic Vanilla and Pumpkin Ice Cream. It is better than anything I've ever purchased at the store. This way we get to control fat and sugar content, too! My favorite has been eating the vanilla with Reese's Pieces. I'm going to make up a batch of lemon-basil sorbet later.

Meanwhile our favorite man of the house (Keith) has finally fallen victim to The Cold That Knocked Out a Household. Meaning we are entering week 3 of someone in the house being sick. First, Remi got a horrible fever, coughing, sneezing, and runny nose. He can't resist giving Marshall kisses, so guess who got it next? Poor little baby was sneezing and had such horrible congestion he could hardly eat for a full day. Now that Marsh is almost better, darling Keith has gotten the worst of it with a sore throat, sinus infection and serious ear infection. Needless to say, he did not go back to work this week, instead he is enjoying a nap in his favorite leather chair. Here's hoping Mama doesn't catch any of this nonsense!

Mother's Day Gift

My Mother's Day gift arrived this week! A KitchenAid Ice Cream Maker Attachment!
Me-Oh-My we are in trouble! Keith made the French Vanilla Batter this morning. It is chilling, waiting to be mixed.
I'm really excited to experment with different flavor combinations. I'm really anxious to duplicate this:I've only tasted it while visiting their factory, but it is to DIE for!

Toothbrush holder

I like things to be slightly less conventional around here. I think this is a fun idea for holding toothbrushes over the standard hardware.

You'll need some glass vase filler beads (available in any floral dept, even at Walmart)

A funky glass

And voila!

It's easy to clean, too! Just throw everything is the dishwasher and you are done! Am I the only one that washes my toothbrushes this way?

Happy Mother's Day!

Keith and I are most definitely the luckiest kids around when it comes to our mothers!

We love you, mommies!

Beach Day

Yesterday was the first time I have been to Galveston in 3 months. It felt good to get back into our routine! Dinner at The Original, a walk on the beach, hanging out at Keith's apartment, and ice cream! Even though Remi was starting to come down with a fever, he wanted to stay at the beach forever! His favorite activity was chasing birds. I think if I didn't catch up to him, he would have kept running and never stopped! We couldn't really go into the water because of jellyfish season, but fun was had by all!

Strange Runner (?) in Galveston

I don't know what this guy was up to yesterday, but it still gives me a laugh watching him

Marshall Newletter: Month Two

Nicknames: Nugget, Maushau, Baby Marshall, Kid, Bebe

Dear Marshall,

Today you turn two months old!

You are growing like a little baby weed. Today the doctor told me "we'll have to watch that" about your weight...Hmmm. What am I to do? I can't very well put
you on a diet now, can I? You have graduated to size 2 diapers and you are positively bursting out of your 3 month outfits. You are the perfect chubby baby in my opinion!

You have been smiling at everyone who little talk to you, and even those who don't necessarily talk (Remi) You are very very agreeable EXCEPT when I try to take a shower. Then you scream. Other than that, you are a sweetie.

You have fallen into a very nice routine with structured naps, going to bed at 8pm, feedings are pretty predictable. You LOVE to snuggle while trying to take a nap, and you tightly grip the shirt of whoever is holding you. I spoil you a bit too much and let you lay with me in the early morning hours. My little cuddle-bug

Other tidbits:
You love your blue heart binki, you love your swing, you are learning to sleep flat on your back instead of in your papasan, you love to "swim in the bubbles," your feet and tummy are a bit ticklish, you are a very fast eater, you spit up a lot, you have adorable chubby thighs, sometimes when you scream you turn purple, your fingernails grow faster than I can keep up with, you are pretty intense when you bang your head into someone's chest or when you kick your foot into something too hard, you love to stare at the sky or ceiling fan with your beautiful blue eyes and you are starting to recognize the difference in people voices. You actually like tummy time and sitting at the the computer while Mama or Dada "internets" (verb)

Your little personality is blossoming and I can't wait to see what happens next month.

I love you, nugget!

Love, Mama
